I believe that no one person can be blamed for the deaths that resulted in this hysteric time. 35% of the blame should be placed on Tituba, because she introduced the girls to the stories of voodoo and witchcraft. 25% of the blame should be placed on the girls, particularly Anne Putnam, for continuing these trials with their spectral evidence. 20% of the blame should go to the society, because of the superstitions and accusations that followed the original accusation from Tituba. And the remaining 20% should go to landowners and Merchants such as Mr. Putnam and the feud between Salem Village and Salem Town.
I think that there are many people/groups to blame for the deaths.
1.Society 10% They let everything happen the way it did. 2.The judges 20% They could have listened to both sides and made decisions based on facts and not feelings/opinions. 3. Tituba 30% Everything started with her admitting to witchcraft. The fear took the best of people. 4. The group of girls 40% They started to accuse anyone they thought was different or didn't like. Then those people accused others, and it was a chain reaction.
i think that the people that need to be blamed are: 1: the first group that should get blamed are the girls they should get 50% because they started all the talking and acting out so they could get the people they did not like out of their town. 2: the second group that should get blamed are the judges they should get 20% because if they did not believe everything the girls said they would have not killed so many innocent people that did nothing. 3: the final group that should get blamed are the members of the community they should get 10% because they could have watch what there daughters were doing and made shear that they were not just playing around to get attention from certin people that they were around. that is who i think should get blamed for what happened in the village.
I agree with what Erica says that 10% should go to the society for their beliefs and greed; 20% on the judges for accepting evidence that the girls could only see and dilling innocent people; 30% on Tituba, the person who started it all; and 40% on the girls who accused the other villagers.
